The lurgy is back
Feb. 13th, 2012 09:25 amNot with a vengeance, but certainly back, due to -- I'm 100% sure -- the arctic temperature at my office, where I spent Friday shivering and cursing the not-quite-functioning radiator, draughty windows and badly insulated walls. Same as I've been spending pretty much every working day this winter.
So I woke up yesterday with a temperature, sore throat and congested sinuses (the latter not as bad as last weekend but still annoying), cancelled tennis and spent the day guzzling tea and being warmed by assorted critters.
Since I have more or less zero work to do, and no irresistible desire to spend another day shivering behind my desk, I decided to stay home today. I'm not going to risk another onslaught of fever and sore throat -- which BTW hurts abominably -- merely to sit in a cold room doing nothing.
The weather is crazy: it's been snowing on and off for ten days -- very unusual for February. It would be unusual even for January; normally we get snow three or four times between November and March, but it melts away pretty fast (here in Skopje at least; in the more mountainous parts of Macedonia it does of course stay longer).
This was the view from my living room window about 15 minutes ago:
