Jeez, I was in bad form yesterday at the gym. Abysmal. I did 1h 15 anyway, but very low impact, seeing as my heart rate went up to 145 on the Orbitrack, when I was working out at a level that usually results in 130 - 135. No need to overtax the old body; sometimes it's enough just to do *something*, and aforementioned old body knows exactly what is good for it. There's a fine line between being lazy and just not being able to do much.

So I decided not to set the alarm for this morning, and to sleep as long as I wanted; also, since it's completely irrelevant whether I'm at work or not, I also decided I'd have a nice, slow morning and simply get to work whenever I felt ready.
Thus I got 8 hrs sleep and arrived at work at 8.45 instead of 7.45 (we start at 8), and I'm feeling really, really good. Rested, cheerful and energetic.

Not that there's much I can do right now with all that energy, because there isn't any work to be done, but it's nice not to be feeling like a zombie.

In writing news, I think I'm almost done with the exchange fic -- "done" as in "done editing", that is. I started another read-through this morning, and it seems that by now I can't find any potential for improvement anymore, however small. So the opus magnum is as good as it gets, and shall be sent off on the weekend at the latest.
*sighs* I wish the exchange would start posting earlier than the beginning of December, because I'm feeling strangely excited this year about it -- somehow I have a feeling as if it would be the best we've ever had. (Not because I'm participating, just to avoid any misconceptions about me being an incorrigible megalomaniac)
I have to say, though, that what I've written this year is probably one of the best I've ever done, especially from a technical point of view. It really feels balanced and harmonious, which makes me happy.

Oh, and since I've been complaining a lot about the dry heat, I guess I ought to mention that it rained -- intermittently and not too strongly, which was a good thing -- from Friday till Sunday. By now the air is clean and fresh, if still a little moist, and the weather is perfectly fine and autumn-y. I love it, and so do The Critters -- today it's warm enough again to leave both balcony doors open, and when I left for work this morning, Lola and Cornelius were enjoying the sunshine on the living room balcony, while Lucius, who is a bit more sensitive, was strectched out on the couch in all his bony glory, also visibly luxuriating in a sunny patch.

Time to feed my trio of embassy kittens now.
