The vet came today, to take Lola to his office and draw blood for the rabies test, which is one of the preconditions for her to travel to Vienna with me.
The poor thing must have defended herself very well, because he decided to sedate her (not that I blame him; he's a vet, but that doesn't mean he has to be turned into mincemeat by every other patient). He brought her back to me about two hours ago, and she's still fast asleep in her carrier which I placed on my desk. It's far better for her to be here at work with me, in peace and quiet, than at home where ze boyz would surely get up to mischief.
I already cancelled tennis for today and will take her home directly after work, unless of course she wakes up earlier and is distressed. I don't think so, though, because the tranquillizers bind themselves to fat tissue, of which she has rather a lot. So she'll probably be out cold till evening.
The effectiveness of the drug has, however, got me to think that I'll probably have all three sedated by the vet before the drive to Vienna. It's likely to be a little less efficient with Lucius, due to almost total lack of fat, but Cornelius and Lola ought to sleep for the whole trip. That's better all around -- no stress, no hunger, thirst or need to go to the toilet, and last but not least it'll be considerably easier on the driver's nerves.

Now that my kitty is safely back with me, I'm finally able to relax and enjoy the fact that my holiday is only three hours away.
I finished everything, including some debriefing notes for the Ambassador, and am currently feeling very virtuous and accomplished.
