Back at... work, for lack of a better word
Oct. 9th, 2013 09:56 amSince I'm getting paid for coming here, I suppose that's what I have to call it.
After two days of absence, not one missed call on my office phone. I wonder if anybody -- except maybe the lady I share an office with -- even realized I wasn't there. Probably not. As almost everything, this *does* have a positive aspect, too: no giant email backlog after two days off work.
The extended weekend was as enjoyable as it was necessary. I didn't do any exciting stuff -- when do I ever? -- but had plenty of time to exercise, cook, enjoy the Critters, watch season 8 of "How I Met Your Mother", do things about the flat, and take naps. Wonderful. Oh, and a yummy Mexican birthday dinner on Sunday.
Also, when I went to play Badminton on Monday with Klaus, I cunningly extrapolated that, where they have tennis courts (indoors) they might also have the phone numbers of tennis coaches. Which they did. I called the guy yesterday, and he'll call me back these days with the available time slots. I think I can afford two hours every second week. If it turns out to be too much of a strain on the budget, I'll have to cut down a bit.
Yesterday at the gym, I found my new fitness benchmark. I'll regard myself as truly fit once I make it through "Bodywork XXL", i.e. 75 minutes of absolutely brilliant torture, without undue breaks and without being afraid of walking down stairs afterwards, because my thigh muscles are so tired they feel like jelly. It's really, really good, though, just like all the other classes on offer. However, today there will be only very light exercise because, oh boy, are those quadriceps sore.
I think I said thank you for all the birthday wishes, but in case I missed one: "Thank you!" :-)
