Today I had the training session for the electronic filing system. Training is obligatory, which is, well, OK. What's not OK is the compete lack of organization: neither do they group people by skills, nor by their needs -- people in support centres use completely different features than, say, desk officers.
I was so bored -- yes I know, it's a bit of a recurring theme these days -- that I felt my brain leaking out of my ears. Not only do I have a pretty good working knowledge of the programme, but obviously I'm developing a serious allergy to idiocy. Can't stand it anymore. Just can't.
October, 30, is the deadline for applying for the one job I really want.
It's a pretty simple form, as forms go, and besides filling in your personal data and CV you also have the opportunity to express why you deem yourself up to the job. You know what I'm going to do? Instead of lauding my people and organizational skills -- or maybe in addition to that, yes, definitely in addition to that -- I'm going to write a list of simple measures and /or offers I'd like to introduce, from which people would benefit greatly but which wouldn't cause any additional costs.
I'm 95% sure I'm not going to get the job anyway, so nothing's lost.
In order to make the near future look less bleak, I took Monday and Tuesday off work and also planned the holiday I'm going to take at the beginning of November (during which I'll go to Skopje for a couple of days). It did have a certain beneficial effect. Thinking of four work-free days followed by a three-day working week is a real mood-lightener.
As is the thought of leaving this place of madness and despair in about an hour, unperturbed by the fact that I was 30 minutes late in the morning. I'll head to the gym, enjoy a nice, long session there, and then home to my beloved Critters. (Beloved in spite of waking me at 4.20 a.m.)
