Weekend, not quite as I'd planned it
Oct. 21st, 2013 10:02 amWell, only partly as I'd planned it.
Because on Saturday I did pretty much everything I'd intended to do, except for sports, because there wasn't enough time. I did clean the flat, though, and take the bed sheets to be laundered, and shoped for groceries before heading out of town to see my mother. In the evening I had dinner with Renate, my ex-sister-in-law. It was a lovely day, both weather- and activity-wise, and it reminded me that the reasons for coming back to Vienna were, and are, indeed still valid, shit job notwithstanding.
Whether due to the weather (nice but unseasonably warm with south-easterly wind), hormones, laziness or whichever other reason, yesterday did definitely *not* go as planned. I slept through most of the morning and part of the afternoon; since I slept very well also during the night, the sleep was obviously very much needed, and so I'm not going to write Sunday off as a completely lost day. Especially since Rambo proved that his uncles have been grooming him well for his cat duties: the uncles decided to have a prolonged snooze in my bed, and Rambo bravely stood in for them, curling up on top of the sleeping Mother Goddess and being cuddly and purring.
Nice surprise this morning: my office mate is off sick. Not that I have more work if she isn't here, but at least I can be bored on my own. Besides, I'm leaving at 12, because Rambo needs to see the vet again (just for the second part of his shots). I'm curious to learn how much weight he's gained in the last three weeks. By my estimate he ought to be around 2,5 kg now. Big boy, growing bigger every day.
Loath though I am to overstrain the monthly budget, I'll have to get a back massage at least every two weeks. Working out and strengthening the muscles is necessary, and it helps, but with the sort of sedentary job I have and due to the higher right hip, I definitely need those massages. Of course I could get a prescription for them, but 1) this involves a lot of very, very tiresome visits to various doctors, 2) I'd have to go to one of the Public Health Care physiotherapy centres, which is generally a pain in the butt, and 3) the staff employed by PHC isn't as good as this one masseuse I know -- she helped me during the month I spent in Vienna in 2009, between Ankara and Skopje. So I suppose I'll have to include massages in the monthly expenses. At least it's an investment in my health.
