Sunday morning, and Klaus, the GBF, will arrive at 10 for breakfast. I bought lots of delicious stuff yesterday and hence expect it to turn into a veritable orgy. Yum.

Last night, while watching the news on TV, I was completely flummoxed by the absurdities the human mind is able to produce. So we've had the hottest, driest summer in, I don't know, hundred years. We have every reason to assume that this change of climate *might* be due to what we've been doing to our environment for the last fifty or so years. So what do we do? Do we try to diminish the emissions of various kinds of noxious substances? Do we even think of following the advice of ecologists, scientists and other clever people who are proposing solutions? Nooooo, of course not. We try to develop crops with a better resistance to heat and dryness. What is that, if not absurd?

Ze boyz' balls (or what is left of them) are healing nicely, and they are almost their obnoxious selves again. Cornelius had to play with his toy mouse tonight, the one that squeaks, and of course he had to do it at 3 a.m. and in my bed. I confiscated it and hid it under my pillow.

Orpheus now has almost 3 chapters, around 4000 words each. As per usual, spontaneous ideas have crept into the plot (e.g. I didn't really want to introduce the Malfoys that early) but fortunately didn't drive me away from the original concept. Evilly lunatic Draco *is* fun to write. And his daughter is so adorable... So, what now? To post or not to post? Maybe this afternoon.

Read [livejournal.com profile] insper_a_shen's latest chapter yesterday. A Certain Amount of Sense really is a very good story. I liked how she was playing with the readers' expectations in ch. 19 and 20, introducing a plot twist that didn't seem forced in the least. I really should review more often, but sometimes I just don't feel like reviewing. Plus, I wasn't sure about the end of ch. 18 (or was that 17?)--somehow there seemed to be a jarring note, but of course I didn't want to mention that before going back by a few chapters, so as to make sure whether I remembered the story correctly. That's one of the problems with reading too many WiPs at the same time--sometimes they get mixed up in my mind. Anyway, it turned out that I had been wrong (I thought that Hermione's feelings at the end of the chapter, when Snape accompanies her back to Gryffindor Tower and their eyes meet, and she's convinced she won't forget his look *draws deep breath* well, I thought that her feelings were slightly off-key. Which they weren't, as there had been ample preparation and build-up)

Outside the Fire has been updated as well, two days ago I think, and now I like the story even more than I did when I started reading it. Especially because of the witty dialogue. But there's more: the relationship between Harry and Draco, and--I wish JKR would allow for such a development--the beginning friendship between the houses of Gryffindor and Slytherin. Harry using his Occlumency/Legilimency skills to introduce Snape into Hermione's dreams. Snape, who has become re-addicted to nicotine because Longbottom turns him into a nervous wreck. Ron's relationship with Millicent Bulstrode. Great story, really. Go read it!!
